This job description outlines the responsibilities and qualifications for the Associate Game Production Artist role at Wizards of the Coast, specifically focused on Magic: the Gathering Arena. This position is an entry-level role with growth potential and involves working with art assets for game development, collaborating with various teams, and managing production tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Art Asset Management: Format and crop images for Unity using Photoshop and custom scripts. Convert vector art into raster sprites for use in Unity.
  • Media Preparation: Gather video and screenshots for presentations and marketing materials.
  • Shader and Illustration: Generate height maps from illustrations for parallax shaders.
  • Documentation and Communication: Edit and maintain Confluence documentation for team communication.
  • Task Management: Track and manage tasks in JIRA, participating in scrum development processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Degree or equivalent experience in Art, Illustration, 3D modeling/texturing, or Graphic Design.
  • Relevant Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, file management, and naming conventions.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well within a team environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Unity Experience: Familiarity with Unity game engine.
  • 3D Software: Experience with 3ds Max or Maya.
  • Game Enthusiasm: Experience playing Magic: the Gathering or a passion for games and game development.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $62,921 to $108,097 USD.
