This mid-level position in Contracting is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of contracts to support the procurement of goods and services for Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Medical Center and its affiliates. This role requires attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage contracts in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Contract Management:

    • Independently handle the drafting, review, negotiation, and execution of contracts, ensuring alignment with Medical Center policies.
    • Contract types include Purchase Agreements, Software Agreements, Consulting Agreements, Services Agreements, and others.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for contract negotiations and executions, including amendments and renewals.
  • Collaboration and Customer Service:

    • Work closely with internal stakeholders across the organization to advise on contractual terms, negotiations, and recommendations.
    • Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide excellent customer service.
    • Engage in negotiations via telephone, video conferences, and email with outside parties.
  • Legal and Contractual Guidance:

    • Analyze contractual language and advise internal teams on contractual obligations.
    • Ensure the business and legal terms are consistent with organizational goals and risks are properly mitigated.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination:

    • Work with the Director of Contract Services, Legal Services Department, Risk Management, and other departments as needed on specialized contract reviews.
    • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the contract repository system to assist in contract management.
  • General Support:

    • Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Contract Services or other members of the Legal Services Department.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in contract management, drafting, review, and negotiation, preferably in a healthcare environment.
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills, with the ability to manage high volumes of contracts and deadlines.
  • Skills:

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors, leadership, and other stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and contract management software.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity in all dealings.
  • Independent Decision Making:

    • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and solve problems in a self-directed manner.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree.
