Hood Distribution Established in 1899, we are a leading wholesale distributor of hardwood lumber, plywood, and specialty products with 24 locations serving the eastern U.S. and the Caribbean.
We're looking for a self-motivated, organized Architectural and Design Specifications Representative to manage the specification process for our Formica line and specialty products in North Florida, the Panhandle, and Southern Georgia. Your focus will be on lead generation, customer development, and securing product specifications in the region. Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, initiate, and build relationships with key architects, designers, and product specifiers in your region to increase market share and boost sales volume.
- Promote Hood Distribution's product lines by conducting regular face-to-face meetings with both existing and new specifiers, introducing products such as Formica laminate, solid surfaces, functional cabinet hardware, decorative melamine, custom architectural molding, and panels.
- Work independently and collaboratively to achieve company and team goals.
- Collaborate with internal sales and marketing teams to develop targeted programs for architects and designers.
- Service existing and targeted accounts, nurturing relationships, increasing product specifications, generating sales leads, and providing technical consulting.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, managing specifications from product selection to delivery and job completion.
- Set up and maintain client displays and merchandising samples; implement creative marketing strategies.
- Address client concerns and complaints, providing fair and effective solutions.
- Monitor competition by gathering information on pricing, products, and merchandising strategies.
- Enhance professional and technical knowledge by reviewing product literature, attending seminars, and staying informed about industry trends.
- Analyze client needs, market trends, and growth patterns to tailor product offerings.
- Prioritize and multitask effectively using time management skills.
- Utilize CRM tools to track and report on call activity, project tracking, and presentation schedules.
- Conduct product knowledge sessions for the A&D community and fabricators; actively participate in industry trade shows.
- Provide technical assistance and cross-training to colleagues within the organization.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Background in construction materials is preferred.
- Knowledge of Formica products is an advantage.
- 3-5 years of experience in sales, preferably with architecturally specified products.
- Strong presentation and demonstration skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
