Individuals in this role will work in a semi-structured environment, often managing processes and programs within the department with limited supervisor involvement. The ability to work independently and take initiative is essential.
Responsibility for Others: This role may involve overseeing part-time hourly staff or other clerical employees, including training, assigning tasks, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of their work. While this role may include overseeing others, it does not involve responsibilities such as hiring, disciplining, or terminating staff.
Problem Solving, Follow-up, Decision-Making and Planning: Individuals must be capable of suggesting and implementing process improvements, making decisions, and communicating plans effectively to others. The role requires following up as necessary without supervisor instruction.
Level of Interaction & Confidentiality: Individuals must be able to serve and accommodate individuals at all levels of the organization, both in-person and by phone. This requires making sound judgments and communicating confidently in both oral and written forms.
Equipment – Supplies & Maintenance: Individuals may be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of office equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is functioning efficiently.
Education and Work Experience: A minimum of two years of college (60 credit hours) is required, along with 1-2 years of professional office experience. A year of college education may substitute for a year of office experience and vice versa.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in each MS Office component is required, with a minimum of 80% accuracy in a proctored testing setting using testing software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Equipment Operated: Basic office equipment such as desktop computers, copiers/multi-function devices, faxes, and telephones.
Working Conditions: The work environment is climate-controlled and predominantly sedentary, with occasional movement required within the office. The role may require light lifting (up to 10 pounds) and frequent use of a desktop computer, involving hand/wrist movements and repetition.
