Description Job Description


The Financial Aid Clerical Position at Roosevelt University offers a full-time, hybrid role based on the Chicago Campus, providing administrative support to the Financial Aid department. This position is suitable for individuals with prior office experience and strong organizational skills. 

Position Details

  • Schedule:
    • Hybrid months: November, December, May, June, July (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).
    • In-office months: January, February, March, August, September, October.
    • Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Reports To: Director of Financial Aid.
  • Employment Type: Non-exempt, full-time.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Office Operations

    • Manage processes and programs within the department.
    • Oversee efficient office operations and ensure task accuracy.
    • May supervise and assign work to part-time or other clerical staff.
  2. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making

    • Identify process improvements and implement solutions.
    • Communicate decisions and plans effectively to relevant stakeholders.
    • Independently follow up on tasks and resolve issues without requiring close supervision.
  3. Interaction & Communication

    • Provide support to individuals at all levels of the university.
    • Handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Interact professionally with students, parents, and staff, including managing difficult conversations.
  4. Technology & Equipment

    • Operate office equipment including desktop computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephones.
    • Maintain and oversee office supplies and equipment needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:
    • At least two years of college (60 credit hours). One year of college education may substitute for one year of professional office experience, and vice-versa.
  • Experience:
    • 1–2 years of professional office experience.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in MS Office (80% proficiency in Word, Excel, and other components verified through proctored testing).
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision.
    • Exceptional organizational and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience managing and resolving conflicts with students or parents.

Work Environment

  • Conditions:
    • Climate-controlled office environment.
    • Primarily sedentary but involves frequent movement around the office/building.
    • Occasional lifting or pushing of lightweight items (<10 pounds).
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Frequent hand/wrist movements due to computer use.
