The Accounting Specialist role at Newmark involves supporting various accounting functions under direct supervision, with responsibilities that range from handling clerical duties to assisting with complex accounting tasks. This position plays a crucial role in preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and maintaining the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and other financial statements; review and classify reports accurately.
  • Journal Entries and Reconciliations: Assist with posting journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and closing ledgers to generate monthly financial statements.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Communicate with other departments to resolve accounting issues, manage reconciliations, and gather necessary information.
  • Budgeting Support: Assist with budget preparation and variance reviews.
  • Administrative Tasks: Conduct general administrative duties such as answering phones, drafting correspondence, and processing check requests as needed.

Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of prior accounting experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word; experience with computerized accounting systems is a plus.
  • Other Abilities: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.

The expected salary range for this position is $114,400 to $145,600 annually, based on experience, skills, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses and short- or long-term incentives.
