The Accounting Assistant I role at Rutgers Global is a multifaceted position within Rutgers University's Office of Global Education. This office promotes international engagement through study abroad programs, academic support for international students, and partnerships with institutions worldwide. The Accounting Assistant I will handle financial and HR activities for the Rutgers Global – Study Abroad (RGSA) office, which manages 180+ programs in 50 countries, and oversees an annual budget of over $8 million.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Administration: Manage RGSA's financial transactions, including accounting, billing, reconciliation, and budget processing.
- Human Resources: Handle tasks related to the university's HR and absence reporting systems.
- Budgeting and Reporting: Assist with pricing and reconciling study abroad programs, create financial reports, and support budget processing.
- Client Services: Provide billing and financial aid information to students, staff, and faculty, ensuring effective communication and assistance.
Qualifications
Required
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: At least two years of professional experience in accounting or business operations.
- Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, teamwork capabilities, ability to work independently on multiple tasks, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Experience: Three years in a related role, with knowledge of Rutgers' online accounting systems, international education, and currency exchange.
- Additional Skills: Strong customer service skills and an interest in foreign cultures and languages.

- Software: Oracle, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access, StudioAbroad, and Terra Dotta.
Physical Demands and Additional Requirements
