We are looking for a highly experienced Accountant – Revenue & Interline Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will ensure the timely processing and accounting of supplier invoices, refunds, and incentives while performing reconciliation of sales, revenue recognition, and interline transactions. You will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of records, ensuring internal controls, and resolving discrepancies, ultimately contributing to the smooth financial operations of our airline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Revenue & Invoice Processing:

    • Ensure timely processing and accounting of supplier invoices, incentive payments, refunds, and other transactions.
    • Carry out reconciliation of sales, revenue recognition, and interline transactions, ensuring completeness and accuracy through internal control and review processes.
  • Revenue Recognition & Reporting:

    • Ensure the revenue accounting is completed according to the timelines, facilitating accurate monthly revenue recognition.
    • Analyse and report on flight revenue yields and KPI metrics to ensure alignment with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
    • Process and account for interline invoices, sales, commissions, discounts, and other relevant accounts to maintain justified balances.
  • Discrepancy Resolution:

    • Identify and resolve discrepancies through audits and investigations, raising under-collections and adjustments as needed.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve disputes, queries, and discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Proration & Interline Processing:

    • Manually prorate complex coupons rejected by the revenue accounting system to ensure accurate allocation of fares across coupons.
    • Process interline prime invoices and recharges, in accordance with the IATA Proration Manual and special agreements.
    • Handle interline billing disputes and over/under-billed values through correspondence with other airlines.
  • System & Process Enhancement:

    • Support system enhancements, testing, and process changes to improve business processes.
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data generated by system interfaces, updating system-related masters accurately and timely.
    • Provide data analytics support for Management Information Systems (MIS) and Revenue Assurance.
  • Financial Reconciliation:

    • Perform detailed reconciliation of accounts, ensuring minimal exceptions and accurate financial records.
    • Assist in month-end closing activities, investigating movements in balances to ensure accurate reporting and minimize adjustments.
  • Audit & Reporting:

    • Conduct audits of financial documents and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with established standards.
    • Assist Finance Officers and Controllers with month-end reviews, preparing reports and supporting documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field (required).
    • Additional finance qualifications or certifications (preferred).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in finance and accounts, preferably within an airline or aviation-related background.
    • IATA qualifications or experience in interline revenue accounting (preferred).
  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and revenue recognition, especially within an airline context.
    • Familiarity with proration, fare rules, ticketing, and interline agreements.
    • Advanced computer literacy with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and accounting software.
    • Excellent analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently while adhering to established processes and standards.
